Daventry Parliamentary Candidate Stands Aside

5 May 2017

Daventry Green Party Parliamentary candidate Steve Whiffen has decided not to stand in the upcoming General Election. Steve has been an active member of the party for many years and stood for the Daventry seat in the 2015 General Election. Unfortunately he has decided not to stand for personal reasons.

Scott Mabbutt, parlimentary candidate for Northampton South said "The Northants Green Party would like to take this opportunity to thank Steve for all of his work for the party over the years and wish him well for the future. He is of course always welcome to join us on the campaign trail, now or in the future"

The party are hoping to stand candidates in all 7 constituencies in Northamptonshire and as it stands the Northants Party is looking into undertaking an urgent re-selection process. As the deadline for candidate submission only 6 days away this may not be possible. With the local election results being counted today in Kettering, the party will be consulting memebers as a matter of urgency over the issue.
