Steve Whiffen is our candidate for Daventry.
Steve Whiffen is 54 and has lived in Northamptonshire for seven years since relocating from South London. He is married with four teenage children, all of whom attend local schools and colleges, and two chickens which don't. He works full time for a large charity which aims to provide better lives for older people.
Steve is passionate about local matters. He wants to improve public transport and local community facilities such as libraries and parks. He'd like to see local businesses thrive so that they can provide employment to local people, help to reduce unnecessary car journeys and to regenerate the local economy.
His respect for the countryside means that he has a special interest in planning issues which can affect local residents. He has a keen advocate of local communities becoming more self-sufficient through schemes that encourage people to grow their own food. His passion for social justice makes him want a fair tax on the banks, better use of taxpayers' money and well-funded public services.
Steve stands for a fairer society, and making the green option the easiest and cheapest one is part of that. He thinks ‘Fair is Worth Fighting For' on many issues including:
Community - Greens campaign to revitalise our communities and want to save public services from cuts.
Education - Steve would ensure education is free, including school meals.
Environment - Greens will make it easier to recycle and compost household waste and help you reduce your waste.
Transport - Steve will prioritise schemes for pedestrians, cyclists, bus and rail travel.
Health - Greens want publicly run care that is properly funded, free at the point of use for all.
